I bought this washer in may of 2025. Now it's August of 2026 and the tub bearing is starting to go on it, it's a horrible grinding noise... We are a family of 2 adults and seven children. The washer just couldn't hold up... We are impressed with the load capacity for a front load washer, and for repeated large loads the washer cleans clothes very well. We do not go the warranty route typically because we can not go a day without doing 3+ loads of laundry... We just can't wait a few weeks for the repairs to commence... Got to get a new washer.

If I could give this thing a negative rating I would I ah ent even had this wash for 3 years yet and have had issues 2 times now with it not wanting to drain first time was the pump now I™€™m not sure what the issue is.. please do not buy this I know how nice it looks but it™€™s not worth all the trouble I promise I also have the matching dryer that the drum messed up in so for the pair both under 3 years old and having problems come on GE please make this right for me I shouldn™€™t have to be replacing parts out of pocket on a less than 3 years old old washer.. I have never had this kind of trouble out of any other washer and dryer set.. GE do you think you just made a faulty model for this set??

Since we moved into our new house we tried to eliminate the moldy smell coming from this washing machine without success and now the detergent leaks on the bottom of the MicroBan. Worst machine I've ever had and we plan to replace after two years.

absolutely love this machine, HOWEVER TOTALLY UNRELIABLE; broke just after one year, broke again 8 months later, and again a year later... UGHHHH so frustrating; as I am on the phone with customer relations they "MAY" give me a credit towards a new washing machine.... no chance; With kids and a husband who works outside in the FLORIDA heat - we have to do laundry EVERY SINGLE DAY... cannot risk an unreliable washing machine. Im super bummed too - bc we spent an incredible amount of time researching and when this machine works, its great, but we just cannot risk the unreliability - and no help from the company... i mean breaking three years in a row... Maybe we got a lemon...? but they are not interested in picking up the machine, reimbursing us, im not sure what the answer is, but people should know what the risk is when purchasing this machine - at least get a 5-year warranty.

Disappointed With the UltraFresh/Microban Mold Pre

We purchased this GE front-load washer in December 2024, and one of the primary reasons we chose this model was the UltraFresh Vent System with OdorBlock and the Microban antimicrobial door gasket. We specifically wanted a front-load washer that addressed the mold and odor problems commonly associated with front loaders. Unfortunately, after only about 20 months of normal household use, we discovered extensive dark mold-like growth throughout the blue door gasket. What was especially concerning was how much of it was hidden deep inside and behind the folds of the gasket. Once we pulled the gasket back to inspect it closely, the extent of the problem was surprising. This is particularly disappointing because the UltraFresh system and Microban gasket were major selling points for us. I understand that any washing machine requires routine care and cleaning, but I did not expect this level of buildup in such a relatively short period of time on a washer specifically designed and marketed to help address moisture, odor-causing bacteria, and gasket cleanliness. We have submitted a service claim to have the washer inspected to determine whether the gasket, drainage system, or UltraFresh ventilation/drying system is functioning properly. The washer has otherwise performed well, but based on our experience, I am very disappointed in the performance of one of the features that most influenced our decision to purchase this particular model.

Purchasing this washing machine has been one of the worst purchases I have ever made. It has been an absolute nightmare from the beginning. The machine develops an awful smell, and the mold and sludge buildup have been a constant problem. It has even ruined my clothes and bedding. Instead of making life easier, this washing machine has brought me nothing but stress and frustration. If I could give it a negative rating, I absolutely would. I would not recommend this washing machine to anyone. Save your money and purchase something else™€"you will be completely disappointed with this product. Bought a brand new washer and dryer...only to have the washer not even power on! Repairman has come out twice so far and still isn't fixed. There was a mouse nest inside the brand new washer and all the wires and hose are chewed up!!! Best Buy didn't care we purchased a new appliance, and obviously GE doesn't care. My new washer shouldn't have come with "friends" and should've worked right out of the box. Completely ridiculous. GE should have replaced for a functioning washer. My concern is once it gets fixed how long before something else in this washer needs fixed! Beyond frustrated.

I bought this machine in November 2023. In December of 2025 the washing machine just quit working in the middle of a cycle. The machine wouldn™€™t do anything. It wouldn™€™t even unlock which meant the set of sheets sat in the machine until I could get someone out to repair the machine which took a week. $450 later my machine was opened and the main board was replaced. 7 months later it was a different issue. The cycle would run for about 4 minutes and then it would shut off. I was thankful that this time the door wasn™€™t locked so I was hopeful it wouldn™€™t be a big deal to fix. Wrong! The inverter needs to be replaced for another $450. This is NOT ok. You spend almost $1000 on a washing machine and it doesn™€™t last 3 years. GE needs to do something as it is not too much to ask for a washing machine to last 3 years when it should last at least 10. Keep looking do not buy unless you like things that quit working without warning.

I have to pay $250.00 per year just to keep them under warranty because the breakdown to often. i am sitting her today once again with a washer that will not drain and waiting 3 weeks or more to get it repaired. whatever you do, purchase a Samsung. My Samsung washer/dryer are still running today at my daughters house, never have been repaired.

I love this washer due to fact I don™€™t have to add detergent every load. I just fill the dispenser and machine will let me know when it needs to be refilled. Most people add too much soap to their washing machines to begin with. Love the venting system which keeps the machine clean smelling and dry. Love how machine lets you know on your phone when laundry is finished. I use less detergent.

Bad decision

I purchased this washer a year ago, and I have had problems with it since day one. The machine does not spin properly. When the repair technician came out, he asked me for some towels to test it. I gave him four towels, and the washer would not spin. Then he asked for even more towels. How does that make sense? Does that mean I can't wash small loads? The problem is, I definitely can't wash large loads either because the machine often won't spin at all. Doing laundry with this washer is a complete gamble. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. When it finally does spin, it shakes uncontrollably. I was initially told the problem was due to improper installation. I have had other washing machines in this exact same spot and never had any issues with them. They all worked perfectly. When there was nothing left to blame, I was told the problem was my floor. This machine has been nothing but a heartache, and I deeply regret buying it. I would never recommend this washer to anyone. I spent a lot of money on this appliance, and now, just one year later, I feel like I need to buy a new machine. I hate it. If I need to wash a large or heavy load, I have to go to the laundromat because I cannot rely on my own washer. I am extremely disappointed with this product and the lack of a real solution to the ongoing issues.

Stopped working in less than 2 years

I purchased the washer from Nebraska Furniture Mart on August 8, 2024, it was delivered and installed on August 9, 2024. It hasn™€™t even been two years of ownership and the motor for the pump to drain water is no longer working. I went to have a service and maintenance request and the company GE uses wants almost $200 just for the trip to my house just to see if it can be fixed. This machine cost me close to $1,000.00 and the motor for a pump has a life span of 5-10 years. There is absolutely no reason why it should have gone out, especially for the amount of money I paid for it.

Very disappointed with this purchase. The washer failed after about two years, which appears to be a common issue based on other reviews. Cycle stops after a couple minutes for no reason. The warranty is only one year, which is inadequate for a major appliance at this price point. I expected much better reliability and customer support

PART NEEDS A RECALL

The machine itself is usually works ok. About two months out of our one year warranty ours stoped draining. After a service visit and many calls we found out it was an issue that is common with this model and recognized by GE - although they have NOT issued a recall or taken any other proactive steps??? It took me 3 days to finally get them to agree to send us the parts and reimburse us for the services- GE initially wanted me to wait almost a WEEK for a different technician to come out to diagnose and THEN make another appointment to fix the problem. Meanwhile we have been unable to do any laundry and my partner is a firefighter, so that has been less than ideal. Ultimately, the machine is decent and hopefully will be ok once the issue get fixed, but GE should be ashamed of themselves for not issuing a recall, notifying purchasers, and proactively issuing parts for replacement. This is a huge inconvenience and ridiculous with a machine that is one year old.

we bought a GE washer GFW850SOB4RS 2.5 years ago and it is now a very expensive boat anchor. My wife and I are retired and only run it maybe 2 days a week. 2.5 years is totally unacceptable. The repair tech said that the inverter board for sure was bad ($480) and the main board ($250) was giving bizarre feedback: board said high pressure seen while no pressure present, tech tried to update the board firmware, board said it failed to update, then said update successful. Total repair ~$750 for a washer that I bought 2.5 years ago for $900. Tech said choice was mine, but suggested that for $750, I might as well buy new washer. That GE puts out such a crappy product is unconscionable.

I am falling in love with washer! It is smart, quite, and it has so much loading space compared to my old washer. I love the ventilation and odor system to prevent mold build up. It is smart and I have so many options to select like if it want to steam clean my clothes. I made the perfect choice for me and my family.

I got a new phone. Same exact model. Now it won't connect!!!!!!!!! I CAN NOT FIND THE 4 DIGITS FOR THE GE MODULE OR THE 8 DIGIT PASSWORD!!!!!!!!!! Wifi will not automatically connect. Plus, it leaks all over the floor.!!!!!!!!!

Disappointed!

I was so excited about my purchase and had only had my washer a week before I started having issues. Two major problems occurred, it failed to fill with water when certain wash cycles were selected and when the washer is completely off it would make a loud humming noise that continued for an extended period of time. They sent a technician that failed to identify the problem or error code so now we are waiting for another tech to come next week and replace the control board. For the price I paid I expect a better product. I am also concerned that if these are the problems week 1 what happens when warranty is up in a year. Right now everything is covered under warranty.

Worked great for an yr or so and then started to have issues with locked door, midcycle stops. Spents multiple hundreds in repairs and technician visits with no help. Too expensive and irreliable and low quality of service for expensive item.

Replacement washing machine

Our first GE front load washer had catastrophic failure. It was not even three years old. The controller board died and was more expensive to replace than buying a new one. We have replaced with the same model and purchased a 5-year extended warranty for repairs. I do not expect this washer to last any longer, but we are covered by the extended warranty. Note that the matching dryer works fine. At this point we will have a washer/dryer combo for at least 5 years. After that I will be buying a different brand.

Love Love Love my new washer and dryer. I have dogs so I have washable rugs, the 8 x 10 fits well in the washer and dryer and they dry very quickly. I would highly recommend this product.

Bad Vibration

We purchased this washing machine and in less than 9 months we needed a service call because the vibration from the spin cycle shook the entire house. A rear bearing was replaced. After 8 service call visits it was determined by the service company that a new washer was needed and they recommended replacement to GE. The GE customer service told us that since the new washer was technically working, even though the vibration has been so bad a stud is coming out of the wall, they will not replace it. The customer service is awful. DO NOT purchase this or any other GE washer.

We've had Samsung products before and prefer the GE features of this washer much more! The venting and the smart dispense feature are very helpful, especially since my pre-teens are just learning how to wash their clothes. Now, I can make sure they use the right amount.

TERRIBLE!!! We have barely had this unit for 2 years in a second home. It may have been used 20 times in total and now the 'mother board' has gone out. It's out of warranty and will cost me almost $600 to repair.
