I replaced a 1981 five place cooktop with this new one. The older one had 5 distinct cooking surfaces. The new one only has 3 usable at one time. There's too little space between the surfaces. The older model had space for 5 cooking surfaces to be used at maximum heat. If I had know this before I made the purchase, sight unseen, I would have looked elsewhere.

The cooktop is very visually pleasing. It seems to take an extended amount of time to "heat" the actual pan, but it may be the type of pan we use. The burners immediately get hot, just doesn't transfer the heat very fast. It seems to get dirty marks right away, but generally wipes off easily with the correct cooktop cleaning product.

This GE Cooktop replaces our 20-year (GE) one. A Kitchen accident required replacing it. A small glass bottle fell down onto the Cooktop, right at the edge. It took out a minuscule piece, however the damage was done. The cooktop™™s glass started to develop spider cuts over a wide area. Having had the old cooktop for 20 years, and obviously liking it, we went and ordered a GE replacement. Of course this new Cooktop is prettier than the old one. Also, the cooking areas are arranged differently. We are very satisfied with the looks of the Cooktop, and of course cooking on it is a lot of fun! Cleaning the Cooktop with Glass Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner, will keep it sparkling clean!

The cooktop heats quickly cooks food evenly, however, pots and pans leave a residue that is not easy to remove. I bought new cookware because I thought the fault was with my old cookware, there was still much cleaning required.

If GE has a solution for this, I'd love to hear it. Is this covered under warranty? Otherwise range functions very well, but should not be sold in white.

Why do appliance makers make the middle back burner as the large? Fortunately this model has a hot medium right front so I don't have to reach so far over.
Warming should does not go above 150F, so red "hot" light does not ever turn on. It should be set at lower temp such as 125 F.

Replaced a JennAir which was slightly larger. The smaller housing of the GE didn™™t extend as far under the glass as i would have liked so we had to find ways to support it. It required replacing the 30amp breaker with a 40amp one. Don™™t think we™™ll ever have all 5 burners going. Overall I think we will really like it.

Have had GE appliances around my whole life. Also had other brands. Hoping this cooktop stands the test of time like the old ones did. Bought a home and replaced a 30+ year old GE that still worked but was obviously outdated. So far it operates beautiful and has a nice surface and cleans up very easy. Prices for these things are insane but I guess that™™s what it is these days.

The more expensive model allows it to synchronize use with the lower burner for larger cooking area.

I've been cooking in this cooktop for 1 month. I love how easy to clean it is. I use the glass.cleaner it came with and a dry paper towel, that's it! You must use certain kind of cookware such as stainless steel, hard anodized or all clad. Heats up quickly and boils a large pot of water in no time. Very happy with this bbn appliance.

My cooktop cracked after 17 years of use. I needed a replacement and this GE was the only white one available within 100 miles of us. My husband installed it and we have been very pleased with it. I've used all burners and am just getting used to its nuisances. So far-so good.
